Woodlands

Special Events

The Woodlands hosts various types of Special Events throughout the year including fundraisers, receptions, concerts and open houses. Each event serves a special purpose, such as providing financial support to our programs, introducing the public to our facilities and mission, identifying new families who would gain value from the Woodlands, and sharing the many talents of our program participants.

UPMC Celebration of Lights at Hartwood Acres

The Woodlands would like to thank everyone who visited the 20th Annual UPMC Celebration of Lights at Hartwood Acres, which for the first time, chose the Woodlands as one of its beneficiaries. The spectacular holiday light show was open every night from November 18 through January 8 at Hartwood Acres in Hampton.

Butterfly Ball

The Woodlands' annual Butterfly Ball is a gala fundraising event held every fall. The event honors a prominent philanthropist, business or community leader. This year, we honored the Willard and Carol Tillotson Family. Harry Hunter of Hunter Truck Sales was honorary chairperson. Great company, delicious food, delightful music and a spectacular auction all help to generate a substantial financial gift to support the work of the Woodlands Foundation each year.

Family Friendly Haunted Trail

The Woodlands opens its “haunted” doors to the community each October to enjoy our Family Friendly Haunted Trail. The event has grown tremendously each year, and increases community awareness of the many charitable programs the Woodlands provides year-round to those with special needs, in addition to serving as a program-assisting fundraiser.

The Pittsburgh Foundation's Day of Giving

Make a donation to the Woodlands through www.pittsburghgives.org, and we will receive your donation plus a pro-rated share of matching funds from The Pittsburgh Foundation. Check back for the 2012 Day of Giving date.

Woodlands Golf Classic

The Annual Golf Classic is a corporate golf outing typically held in June that is organized by a committee of board members, golfers and supporters of the Woodlands. This event helps generate a substantial financial gift to support Woodlands programming.

Notes from the Heart Concert

Each year, after a week of preparation at the "Notes from the Heart" music camp, the participants perform a concert at the Woodlands. The concert includes various vocal and instrumental performances by the group and ensembles. The 2011 concert was held on Friday, July 22nd at 7 p.m.

Community-supported Events

The Woodlands partners with many community groups and businesses to raise funds for their year-round enrichment programing for individuals with disability and chronic illness. Events include the Union O&P Golf Classic, Bass Golf Outing, Mylan Golf Classic and various events with Atria's Wexford. If you are interested in hosting an event that supports the Woodlands, please contact our marketing and development team at 724-935-6533.
